Privacy

KARMA DIGITAL S.A.S. ("Karma Digital", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. LocalScribe is designed to keep your data on your machine. This page explains what we collect, what we do not, and the few network calls the app makes.
What stays on your Mac
Your audio files, transcripts, diarization output, and the transcription models all live in your local file system, in your folders. LocalScribe never records audio, and your recordings are never uploaded for transcription. We have no access to them. There is no cloud transcription service behind LocalScribe.
What leaves your Mac
The app makes these network requests during normal use:
- Model downloads. On first launch (and when you pick an engine for the first time) LocalScribe downloads its on-device transcription and diarization models from their hosts. The requests reveal your IP address to those hosts.
- License activation and validation. On activation,
LocalScribe sends your transaction ID to our license server
(
api.localscribe.org), which confirms the purchase with Paddle, and it periodically revalidates. Paddle is the merchant of record; their privacy policy is at paddle.com/legal/privacy. The license is cached locally. - Update check. LocalScribe periodically asks
releases.localscribe.orgfor an update manifest, served by Cloudflare R2. The request reveals your IP address and the current app version to Cloudflare. No identifier is attached. Sparkle, the framework we use, is open source.
Once activated and the models are downloaded, transcription works offline.
If you click Send Diagnostics on an error dialog, the app sends us a redacted log (file names and emails stripped) so we can debug the problem. This never happens automatically.
There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporter, no usage tracker. If we ever add one, it will be opt-in and announced here first.
This website
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare keeps standard server
logs (IP, timestamp, requested URL) for operational security. We do not
place analytics cookies. The buy button loads Paddle's checkout script
from cdn.paddle.com when you click it; Paddle handles the
payment flow and may set its own cookies for fraud prevention.
If you write to support@localscribe.org, we keep that correspondence so we can answer you. We do not add it to a marketing list.
Your rights
You can request a copy of any data tied to you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@localscribe.org and we will respond within 30 days. Where Paddle holds the data (purchase records, refunds), we will route the request to them.
Who we are
LocalScribe is built by Karma Digital, based in Uruguay. The data controller for this site and app is KARMA DIGITAL S.A.S.
